Here are the top stories in Oklahoma City today: An Oklahoma City mother and teacher protected elementary students from a machete-wielding suspect on Wednesday. Khristina Covert was dropping her children off at school around 7:40 a.m. when she noticed a teenager attempting to get inside the building. The school, Cesar Chavez Elementary school, was placed on a brief lockout while Oklahoma City Public School security and Oklahoma City police investigated the threat. (News On 6) Police have arrested two people following an Amber Alert after a 10-year-old boy and car were taken from Newcastle Casino. A woman, who is one of the people arrested, went to the casino around 4 a.m. on Sept. 22. and left her car running with the keys in the ignition, and her 10-year-old son in the car. A short time later, a man now identified as 36-year-old Seth Grant got into the car and took off. (KFOR Oklahoma City)Police are investigating a deadly shooting that took the life of 64-year-old Albert Thompson in northeast Oklahoma City near NE 13th and Walnut Avenue. (News9)A person is in custody after an hours-long standoff with police in at an apartment complex near Southwest 74th Street and Western Avenue in southwest Oklahoma City on Tuesday night.
