One year ago, the unemployment rate was 5.9%. In Lake County, the unemployment rate decreased 0.5% as well to 4.5% for the month of August; one year ago, it was 6.5%. Among cities in Ohio with a population of 50,000 or more, the City of Mentor's 4.0% unemployment rate is the lowest. The City's civilian labor force moved to 25,800.
