Description
Greetings Deadhead Drummer! The band I play in needs you! THE drummer with knowledge of the Grateful Dead and a decent amount of performance experience and a ton o pocket! We practice and gig on weekends! You’re a great communicator and take great care of yourself mentally and physically. If you’re like us, if anything you’ve got a MUSIC problem that took over your life, not the other kind. You’re obsessed with playing a great set for people who are dancing to your groove. AND You will be warmly welcomed, you’ll hit the ground running, likely be having a great time over next many months!...and possibly for a long time. We are a grateful dead/ phish style jam band called "Cats on a tin roof". We have been playing together for the last 6 months. Mostly grateful dead standards, with a little more intensity and heavier groove than typical dead, ability to take it in different directions, invent music on the spot, pull off musical risks, and be able to actually “play” in a live setting, in the sense of that word meaning what a child or an otter does most of the time. A lot of that will depend on you, but there’s plenty of flexibility and daring here for what you bring. We have two great guitar players who sing and LOVE the dead, a soulful female vocalist, a well rounded bass player, and a keyboardist who is a true musician. Finding gigs has never been an issue. The audience always dances, even people who had no intention of dancing will do so, and that’s been a real focus for us ever since we realized that’s our ace card. My whole thing is.. I watch the audience move and I play along! and by the sound of it everyone in the band does that too, so there's a real two way rhythmic connection developing between band and dancers. I keep saying, "if you're dancing, as far as I'm concerned, you're in the band" Also creating community through music is a thing with us; getting to know everyone and creating a fun and accepting environment every time. We're learning as we go. The only thing that is missing is the right drummer and percussionist. Please reach out to us. We would LOVE to jam with you! test the waters and keep the music flowing. Things like age, gender, and race are not a factor. I hope to hear from you soon! What are your favorite dead songs? What's your musical background? Musical Goals? :) :) :) !!!
