Shop Laborer/Painter MER Equipment is a family owned and operated business with a 56-year history supplying superior quality diesel engines, generators, electronic, and custom equipment for the tugboat, commercial marine, passenger vessel, and fishing industries. Our business continues to grow and we are looking to bring on a good-natured, energetic, self-motivated individual to join our production team. Job Description: This is an entry level position on the production floor with an emphasis on painting. Job duties include, paint prep, mixing, and spraying. Tidying up the shop, sweeping, taking out the trash, and scrap runs would be a daily part of the job, as would assisting with packaging, crating, shipping and receiving. There would be occasional driving time required to pick up parts, do drop offs and deliver engines. This position affords the opportunity to help out in may departments, including fabrication, engine assembly, wiring, testing and inventory management, so there are great opportunities for career advancement. Traits/Skills Required: Basic mechanical experience- hand tool and power tool efficiency. Painting experience is a plus. Must be energetic, with a good attitude. Must have a "what's next?" mentality and a willingness to learn engine assembly. This is a dynamic, fun place to work, so you must have a sense of humor and be able to play well with others.
