Show off your baking and cake decorating skills at this fun event. Celebrity TV chef, Jason Smith will be our guest judge! Bit of Whimsy Cakes is excited to be sponsoring the Holiday Bake-Off and Cake Decorating Challenge on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Madison Central High School. The competition will take place during the Holiday Market hosted by Madison Central Project Grad 2022 - a one-stop shop for all of your holiday shopping and decorating needs. It's time to show off your holiday baking and cake decorating skills at this fun event. Celebrity tv chef, Jason Smith and Bit of Whimsy Cakes owner, Becky Holman, will be judging the event. Bake-Off: Home for the Holidays We're looking for your blue ribbon best homemade treats. There are 3 categories to enter: cakes, pies and cookies. Entries will be judged on presentation and flavor. We encourage contestants to enter more than one category. $15 for the first entry, and $10 for each additional entry. Please note: entries must not require refrigeration - no cream or custard pies, or whipped cream cakes please. First place will win a blue ribbon and a "Lord Honey" gift set from celebrity Chef Jason Smith. Second and third place will each receive a ribbon and gift set from Newby Country Store. Cake Challenge Professional Division: Christmas in Kentucky We want to see your best designs showcasing holiday memories inspired by our state. Entries must be at least 24" tall and no more than 16" wide. All decorations must be edible - buttercream, fondant, chocolate, sugar paste, royal icing, etc. Floral wire and supports for sugar flowers and sculpted figures is permitted. A tasting element must be included with the entry. It can be in the form of a 4" cake or 2 cupcakes. Cakes will be judged on creativity, neatness, originality and taste. Entry fee: $25. Amateur Division (ages 14+): Christmas Carols Use your favorite holiday songs as inspiration for your cake theme. The amateur division is for anyone ages 14+ who does not sell decorated cakes to customers. Entries may have up to 2 tiers. Inedible decorations are permitted, but they can only make up to10 % of the decorated items on the cake. A tasting element must be included with the entry. It can be in the form of a 4" cake or 2 cupcakes. Cakes will be judged on creativity, neatness, originality and taste. Entry fee: $25. Kids Division (ages 5-13): Oh What Fun! Show us what you think are the most fun parts of the holidays! The kids division is for children ages 5-13. Cakes can be any size or shape, but should not exceed 24" in height or width. Inedible decorations are permitted, but they can only make up to 25% of the decorated items on the cake. A tasting element must be included with the entry. It can be in the form of a mini cake or 2 cupcakes. Tasting elements must be made by the child, with only minimal help from adults. Cakes will be judged on creativity, neatness, originality and taste. Entry fee: $25. First place in each division will receive a trophy and a "Lord Honey" gift set from celebrity Chef Jason Smith. Second and third place in each division will receive a trophy and gift set from Newby Country Store.
