SARASOTA, FL — A section of Beneva Road will be closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon after a hit-and-run crash damaged a power pole. The roadway will be closed between Fruitville Road and Parkland Avenue for about three hours, Sarasota police tweeted around 3:30 p.m. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes. Police responded to the area to investigate the crash and to search for one driver, who drove away. UPDATE: Because of damage to a power pole, Beneva Road is expected to be closed from Fruitville to Parkland for approximately 3 hours.
