Join us at BCRI for a Latinx Heritage Month Commemorative Program! One decade after the passing of HB56, we invite you to join us at BCRI for a Latinx Heritage Month celebration and commemorative reflection on the effects of the anti-immigration bill that continues to effect thousands of Alabamians. Ya ha pasado más de una década desde la aprobación de HB56. Los invitamos cordialmente a conmemorar él mes nacional de la Herencia Hispana. La conmemoración explorara las contribuciones de la comunidad Latina en Alabama y su perseverancia ante ley HB-56 (la lay antimigratoria) la cual continúa afectando las vidas de miles de habitantes de Alabama. In partnership with: Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice, Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, Mi Pueblo Supermarket, City of Birmingham, Division of Social Justice and Racial Equity, Alabama Latino AIDS Coalition/La Coalición Latina sobre el SIDA en Alabama, La Jefa Alabama, El Jefe 1500AM The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a "living institution" which views the lessons of the past as crucial to understanding our heritage and defining our future. Since its opening in November of 1992, permanent exhibitions capture the spirit and courage of countless individuals who, in the 1950's and 1960's dared to confront the bigotry and racial discrimination of American society. Exciting interactive exhibitions depict the dramatic events in Birmingham and other cities that stirred the conscience of a nation and influenced the course of human rights. The mission of BCRI is to promote civil and human rights worldwide through education.
