North Shore Car Break-Ins 'Code RED': Marblehead Police

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead police issued a "Code RED" alert after at least 15 vehicles were broken into overnight Monday as part of what police said was a rash of criminal activity that occurred throughout the North Shore. Police said most of the cars were entered along Lafayette Street and West Shore Drive, along with several side streets from Amherst to Cornell. Police said all 15 vehicles burglarized were unlocked. "It is possible that other parts of Marblehead could be targeted in the future," police said. "We are asking all residents to lock your vehicles, secure your valuables out of sight and report any suspicious activity where you observe an individual checking car door handles." Police said on Tuesday that several cars were rummaged through and had cash, credit cards and other personal items stolen from them. They said on Tuesday that cars targeted were both parked on the street and in driveways. Police also asked to check footage on security cameras in the area to see if there is anything unusual and if so to contact them at 781-631-1212. Did you find this article useful?
