GREENFIELD, WI — Arbor Day, an international celebration of tree planting, is typically scheduled to take place in April. This year in Greenfield, the celebration has been planned for October.
Greenfield residents will gather at Elm Dale Elementary School (5300 S Honey Creek Drive) on Oct. 2 to celebrate Arbor Day this year. The group plans to plant trees around the school to beautify the area. The effort is Greenfield's "largest beautification project," according to the event's flyer.
The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. People can donate trees ahead of time and then help plant them at the event. To donate a full tree costs $195, but partial donations are possible.

It's the 31st annual event, with Greenfield's Arbor Day starting in the 1990s'. Greenfield's Concert Band Ensemble plan to provide music for the event. A demonstration of how to plant trees is also planned.
