STAMFORD, CT — Earlier this month, the Stamford Senior Center held its third annual miniature golf tournament, and it's safe to say it was a success. According to a news release, nearly $9,000 was raised to help older adults in the greater Stamford area remain active and connected to the community. Over 80 golfers, including Stamford Mayor David Martin, participated in the event. "Our mission at Maplewood is not just to support our residents, but to also support other seniors out in the community. We're impassioned to help everyone, and that's why we wanted to support tonight," said Lisa Walsh, Marketing Project Manager at Maplewood Senior Living in a news release. Maplewood Senior Living was a Title Sponsor for the event. The event featured nine holes of mini-golf on the Center's covered patio and recreation room. Each hole was sponsored by a local business or group, such as Principle Wealth Partners, Oasis Senior Advisors and ARK healthcare & Rehabilitation at St. Camillus. As a nonprofit organization, the Stamford Senior Center must fundraise to support the wide array of active and engaging programming it offers throughout the year. With exercise classes, lifelong learning programs, expert speakers and more, the organization is a cherished resource for its over 900 members. "It is great to see everyone come out, have some fun and support the Senior Center. It's been a long eighteen months, and I hope it's a sign of better things to come. We are so grateful to everyone who came to support the Center at this event," said Christina Crain, Executive Director of the Stamford Senior Center, in a news release. On May 5, 2022, the organization will host its "Lives Blossom" event, the Stamford Senior Center's largest fundraiser of the year.
