Campaign Signs Not Allowed On City Property In Norwalk

NORWALK, CT — As Election Day nears, city and Norwalk public works officials remind residents, candidates for election and business owners that campaign signs cannot be placed on city property. According to a news release, the prohibition includes rights-of-way along roads, which can extend up to 10 feet beyond the pavement, as well as state Department of Transportation highways throughout Norwalk. Campaign signs placed behind the sidewalk are permitted, however signs must be placed at least 10 feet from the curb if there is no sidewalk, according to city officials. The public works department collects all signs that are improperly placed on city property. Anyone who wishes to retrieve signs that have been collected can visit the Department of Public Works Operations Center, located at 15 S. Smith Street, during normal business hours.
