BEL AIR, MD — Paving is underway along a 1.3-mile stretch of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway/MD 24. Lane closures may be in effect overnight from Sunday to Thursday over the next month, officials say.
Crews are repaving and installing reflective markings on Route 24 between MacPhail Road and the US 1 Bypass.
The project is an attempt to improve ride quality, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
Weather permitting, crews will close a single lane overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday to Thursday.
Work began Sunday and will continue through late October, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
Electronic signs, reflective barrels and cones will alert drivers about the work zone and lane closures, while Maryland State Police will handle traffic control as needed during nighttime paving work at intersections.
Drivers should focus and be aware of reduced speed limits as well as potential traffic pattern changes.
"Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones," the State Highway Administration advised.
