Morris Museum Launching 'Spark!Lab' For Young Visitors

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Looking for a new kid's activity? The Morris Museum will soon unveil "Spark!Lab," a space where children can create, collaborate and innovate. The Morris Museum is New Jersey's only Smithsonian affiliate. The Smithsonian-inspired space offers kids — ages 5-12 with an accompanying adult — an informal approach to hands-on learning. Instead of following step-by-step instructions, young inventors will be empowered to problem-solve and overcome real-world obstacles. The facility offers many unique, project-specific stations, where inventors can directly engage with engineering and design challenges. The museum will unveil Spark!Lab on Friday. It will be available from 12-4 p.m. with museum admission. The space was made possible by leadership support from the BASF Corporation with additional support by Gay H. Osborn on behalf of the Blanche and George Jones Fund, Inc. "Spark!Lab is a dynamic, inquiry-based educational space where our children will develop the confidence and 21st-century skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond," said Dr. Cleveland Johnson, the Morris Museum's CEO. "Bringing such amazing Smithsonian resources to our community is part of our growing commitment to STEAM education in New Jersey."
