TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — A man suspected of barricading himself in a home and who believed his wife was going to "murder him" died after leading Travis County Sheriff's Office deputies on a foot chase Monday.
Deputies received a 911 call around 6:30 a.m. for a report of a man who believed his wife was "planning to murder him" in the 14700 block of Fitzgibbon Drive in Austin, near Hornsby Bend.
Authorities said the caller was out of breath and could not spell his own name. A woman then got on the phone and told the dispatcher her husband was on drugs and refused to let her leave the room.

When deputies arrived, the man was barricaded in an upstairs room and refused to speak with the department's intervention team. At 6:55 a.m., the man jumped out of a second-story window and rain.
Officials said deputies ran after him, and within the distance of a few houses, they were able to catch up to him. When authorities tried to calm the man down, he became unresponsive.
CPR was started by Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin Fire, who also responded to the call. Despite life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead on scene at 8:01 a.m.
An investigation by TCSO's Internal Affairs Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office has been launched.
