Robinson Engineering announces Aaron Fundich as incoming CEO and Jonathon Zabrocki as President South Holland, IL (September 21, 2021) - Robinson Engineering, Ltd. is announcing the promotion of Aaron E. Fundich, PE to Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2022. Current CEO Russ W. Prekwas, PE, who has held the post since July 2000, will remain with the South Holland, IL based firm as Chairman of the Board. Robinson is also announcing the promotion of Jonathon A. Zabrocki, PE, CFM, CSEPC, LEED-AP (BD+C) to President, replacing Christopher J. King, PE, SE, who retired from full-time duty in April. King will remain on the firm’s Board of Directors, while Zabrocki will also serve as President of Robinson’s affiliated geotechnical engineering and materials testing firm, Geocon Professional Services, LLC. “I’m excited to transition my position to Aaron, and name Jon as President. They will do an outstanding job taking our great company to the next level,” said Prekwas, the longest-serving CEO in the municipal engineering firm’s 84-year history. Fundich interned at Robinson in 1988 and joined REL full-time after graduating from the University of Illinois in 1989. He served as the Village Engineer in East Hazel Crest, Glenwood, Frankfort, South Holland and Itasca over his 32-year career. Fundich has been REL’s Executive Vice President since 2001, leading new office openings and business development in Will County and DuPage County, while also serving on various boards and committees with the American Council of Engineering Companies, South Holland Business Association, Will County Center for Economic Development and Itasca Chamber of Commerce. He holds a master’s in project management degree from Keller Graduate School of Management. “I am grateful to have learned so much from the tremendous previous leaders of Robinson Engineering over the past 32 years,” said Fundich. “I’m humbled yet energized to take the leadership helm on behalf of our entire family of employees. Together with Jon and a diverse and vibrant leadership group, we will build on Robinson’s solid foundation to continue to create increased opportunities for our entire team through dedicated service to our valued client communities.” Zabrocki is a 1994 graduate of Northwestern University, where he earned bachelor and master’s degrees in civil engineering. He joined Robinson in 2001 and has served as its Director of Operations since 2014, while also leading the integration and growth of Geocon since its 2011 acquisition. He has also served as the Village Engineer for the Village of Romeoville during its tremendous growth over the past two decades. Founded in 1937, Robinson Engineering provides civil engineering services to over 75 Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana communities, designing and overseeing construction of all types of public infrastructure. The Fundich-Zabrocki leadership transition represents the fifth in the firm’s history.
