Aurora Theatre is proud to announce its most anticipated season to date! Aurora Theatre’s 2021-2022 Season will once again bring Atlanta audiences Broadway-caliber shows and jaw-dropping performances, all taking place in the brand-new Lawrenceville Arts Center. The lineup begins with the returning holiday-favorite CHRISTMAS CANTEEN, joined by the mysterious thriller FEEDING BEATRICE: A GOTHIC TALE, Broadway spectacular RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA and the world premiere of SWINDLERS.  “This new facility, with its variety of stages, has excited not only Ann-Carol and me, but the entire Aurora Board, our staff and the artists we are bringing on board,” shared Aurora Theatre Co-Founder, President and CEO Anthony Rodriguez. “It means possibility! We will be able to increase our education department. We will be able to create unique private events. We will be able to expand the relationship we have created with this community.” “Our first season in a 500-seat theatre may be comprised of 2 classic musicals, one a Broadway spectacular and the other Aurora’s own Christmas Canteen, but we paired those musicals with exciting, contemporary plays,” added Ann-Carol Pence, Co-Founder and Associate Producer. “We are reimagining the work we produce so that we can christen our new costume shop, activate a scenic fly system and employ our new orchestra pit. This season will inspire our loyal patrons and will entice new audiences, who will quickly discover the magic the Lawrenceville Arts Center has to offer.”  CHRISTMAS CANTEEN 2021 Nov. 26 – Dec. 23, 2021 For the first time ever on the sparkling 500-seat Grand Stage Theatre of the Lawrenceville Arts Center, Gwinnett’s longest-running theatrical holiday tradition returns. This stunning revue is an explosion of Christmas magic brimming with songs, comic sketches and trips down memory lane making The Most Wonderful Time of the Year an unforgettable experience. This milestone production promises new surprises and will be the must-see event of the holiday!   FEEDING BEATRICE: A GOTHIC TALE By Kirsten Greenidge Jan. 20 – Feb. 6, 2022 June and Lurie Walker have a haunting new houseguest – and she’s ravenously hungry. When Beatrice arrives, she burrows so deeply into their existence that she unearths dark secrets with explosive consequences. Expertly crafted, this spine-chilling thriller evokes the terror of Get Out and the suspense of Hitchcock’s Psycho. RODGERS + HAMMERSTEIN’S CINDERELLA Music by Richard Rodgers Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II New Book by Douglas Carter Beane Original Book by Oscar Hammerstein II March 10 – April 3, 2022 This contemporary take on the timeless fairytale features beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein songs like In My Own Little Corner and Impossible/It’s Possible, alongside a hilarious and romantic story that adds new characters and surprising twists. This rags-to-regal story parallels Aurora Theatre’s journey, from humble beginnings, from producing plays in the old Parson’s Hardware to fulfilling the dream of living in a modern-day palace. This show celebrates the future of possibility in an arts center 14 years in the making, because as all good fairy godmothers know, “Even miracles take a little time!”   SWINDLERS A world premiere farce by Chris Anthony Ferrer May 19 – June 5, 2022 Swindlers is a hilarious new farce that centers around bungling burglars, Jerry and Miles, who are set to make easy pickings of a millionaire Miami mansion. Things become complicated, as the situation turns wildly hysterical in a circus of window breaking, code name using, bearskin rug scaring, people killing events that reveal a chance for these small-time crooks to make the biggest score of all time. The madcap caper? Finding the $300 million diamond first and getting out alive!  Ticket prices for the 2021-2022 Season vary by performance.
