Description
The Equipment Operator carries out the crop plan as assigned by Farm Unit Manager – and in a safe, efficient, effective, and timely manner working with other team members. May be assigned to different areas (including Farm or Irrigation) and may be required to fill in for other areas as needed. Knowledge/Skills/Education and Continuous Training: • 3-4 years equipment operation experience (strongly preferred) • Understanding of equipment (tractors, sprayers, mowers, ATV’s etc.) utilized in crop production—safety, operation, & maintenance • Understanding of how to care for trees (plant, prune, train, etc.) and ability to recognize general orchard health conditions (pest pressure, water stress, nutrient deficiencies, etc.) • Positive attitude with attention to detail and power of observation • Ability to work as part of a team to maximize efficient utilization of key resources—people, equipment, etc. • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and supervisors • Possess a valid GA driver’s license Physical Demands: The physical demand described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and/or risk of electrical shock; • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals; and • Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions; The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position is based on regular farm schedule of 55-60 hours per week. Ability to work nights, weekends and shift work as required.
