BASIC FUNCTION The basic function of the Machine Operator is to accept responsibility for preparing jobs to satisfy ship dates or as directed by Management. RESPONSIBILITIES These responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Printing, building, stacking custom/stock loads for production department verifying count and proper stacking. Count and double-check the quantity, verify quality and condition on skids to ensure accuracy and appropriate quality. - Read and correctly set up jobs per schedule and direction of supervisor/manager. Identifying problems and shortages, bringing them to management attention. - Recording any production issues and/or problems on hour-by-hour board or other visual cues. - Unloading mill rolls with roll grabber for the proper operation of the machines. - Treat machinery with care, performing regular machinery checks, upkeep and / or preventive maintenance procedures as required and specified. - Maintain all areas in a clean, neat fashion. Empty garbage dumpsters as required. - Assist in regular inventory and cycle counts by product type as directed. Assist in ensuring and maintaining the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or designee on a temporary or permanent basis. SKILLS/ABILITIES Must be able to safely operate power tools (grinders etc.), as well as hand tools (wrenches, screw drivers, measuring tapes, calipers, etc.). Must be capable of learning to assemble and/or rebuild complete units and/or parts. Must be capable of maintaining and adjusting machinery to produce products. Must be very mechanically inclined, as our products require exacting perfection. Normal math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) are required. KNOWLEDGE Complete knowledge of all safety issues is required (training is provided). Must be able to follow directions. PHYSICAL Must be able to stand, sit, or kneel for long periods of time. Must be able to bend at the waist, and step up and down. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. WORK HOURS This is an hourly position, with current scheduled work hours of 7am - 3:30pm Monday thru Friday. Some overtime may be required. Hours to be determined by immediate supervisor as needed. Additional hours may be required due to production requirements. We are considered an essential business.
