Description

Rehoming two juvenile female degus. It’s getting too crowded with their mom and sisters as they grow bigger. $40 rehoming fee for both. They must go together- degus are extremely social animals and live in large groups in the wild. They are similar to gerbils in temperament, although I’ve found them to be more docile. They are quick, but when you hold them they will contentedly sit still and let you pet them. My daughters and I handle them regularly. They are also not nocturnal, so they are active and fun to watch during the day. PLEASE READ BEFORE RESPONDING!! Here are the supplies you will need: - CAGE: Multi-level cage like the ones for rats or sugar gliders, or a tank that is at least 20 gallons with a secured screen top. They will immediately chew out of anything plastic and love to dig and need many hiding places. - FOOD: Lots of hay, and they can eat guinea pig food and green veggies. No fruit. DO NOT feed them rabbit or hamster/gerbil food. - DUST BATH: Like chinchillas, they need a dust bath 2 or 3 times a week. This can be done in a bowl that is put in their cage for an hour or so. You can get the bathing dust at a pet supply store. - A WHEEL: They are full of energy and love to run run run!
