Harmony Montessori is seeking a Part-time Maintenance Engineer who takes pride in their work and who is both energetic and reliable. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with small construction projects, daily cleaning, and the general maintenance and care of our school as well as being a problem solver who enjoys creating beautiful and functional learning environments. Harmony Montessori is a warm community in SE Portland that educates children from 2.5 years through 12 years of age. We are seeking a candidate who is flexible and willing to work on a team of caring educators. Some Duties Include: Provide and document routine and preventative maintenance. Perform general maintenance and handyman work ie. basic plumbing, fixture replacement, troubleshooting, appliance installation, and painting. Perform building and grounds maintenance and repairs. Work with the Head of School to establish daily maintenance priorities and complete any special projects as assigned. Provide security, door checks, and perimeter checks. Vacuuming and mopping daily. May be required to use carpet shampooer. May require the moving of some furniture. Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs. Ability to walk, kneel, and stoop. Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with the Head of School to diagnose problems or repair machines. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts. Repair and maintain the physical structure of school. Wage Range: $18.00-$20.00 an hour, depending upon experience.
