Custodian School Profile: N.E.W. Academy Canoga Park is a Transition K / K-5 independent charter school, which emphasizes art and science. One of the school’s four core values, Doing Extra Makes a Difference, is seen throughout the year through efforts of the teachers and the parents to create a more meaningful experience for all Dolphins. Teachers go out of their way to assist students and have created optional clubs to add an extra layer of fun to NACP. Clubs include Cooking Club, Dancing Dolphins Club, Drama Club, Student Council, and Band. A resource service provider, speech therapist, and occupational therapist collaborate with teachers and provide services to students who qualify. Parents attend parent meetings and other school events such as the annual Talent Show, Parent Conferences, Art Show, Drama performances, and Multicultural Day. Definition: Under general supervision a Plant Manager performs routine cleaning work at school plant or installation; maintain a safe, healthy learning environment; and do related work consistent with the job description. Essential Duties: The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Report to a Custodian Lead who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping services in the facility. Replenish stock, clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure. Sweep, scrub, mop, apply appropriate floor finishes, vacuum, dust, and polish furniture. Wash walls, windows, display cases and other glass in the buildings. Move heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room Gathering and emptying trash. Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets. Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed. Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to organization. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an indoor and outdoor school campus setting; lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move moderately heavy to heavy loads; walk long distances around campus; bend, stoop, squat, and reach; climb ladders; verbally communicate to exchange information. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
