Brand X For 10 years there had been rumors of BRAND X reuniting, then in late 2016 it happened. Founding members Percy Jones (Bass), John Goodsall (Guitar) and former-Drummer Kenwood Dennard pulled it off – and there was much rejoicing. Completing the band were Keyboard Whiz Chris Clark and Percussionist Scott Weinberger. Fast Forward to end of 2019: With jaw-dropping festival performances at Ros-Fest, ProgtoberFest, ProgStock and three amazing Cruise To The Edge shows, coupled with bubbling accolades from The Huffington Post, Progression Mag, New York Times, Innerviews, have led many to claim this: “Best live Brand X of all time.” That’s high praise for a band that once sported a young Phil Collins as their original Drummer. Nowadays a Who’s-Who of Rock have come out to catch BRAND X live, including members of KING CRIMSON, YES, DREAM THEATER, STEVE HACKETT, ADRIAN BELEW, METALLICA, FOCUS, DIXIE DREGS, ROBIN TROWER, CRIMSON PROJECT, LIFESIGNS, RENASISANCE, and others. The Live Show: Includes a wide variety of iconic pieces from some of the best known BRAND X albums, including: Unorthodox Behaviour, Moroccan Roll, Livestock, Masques, Product, Do They Hurt?, Is There Anything About?, and even a bit from Percy Jones’ solo career. Frontman John Goodsall frequently hurls twisted English humor from the stage. Fans have learned to expect the unexpected. Sometimes influenced by our pals of Monty Python, and sometimes off the top of his head. Python’s Michael Palin wrote sleeve notes for “Do They Hurt?”. He charged us 25 pence -- about 32 Cents -- He’s still trying to collect it… Some people said some nice things – and we didn’t even have to buy them (a lot) of drinks: # 2 Boston Massachusetts Radio, New-Ears-FM # 6 Percy Jones Voted #6 in “Top 10 Bass Players of All Time” – Progressive Music #11 Album Progressive Charts in Prog Magazine #13 International Sales in Burning Shed #20 Album in “All About Jazz” Our favorite is from a fan in New Jersey who said: “I’ve been playing drums for 30 years now, but after seeing this guy in Brand X, I’m going home to burn my kit – right now!” Facebook CSC featuring the Cuda BrothersCSC was formed in the summer of 2006 by Tony and Chris Cuda to perform original prog/jazz/fusion instrumental music. We wanted to integrate all of the great musical influences we have acquired and blend them with our own original styles. The emphasis had to be on composition because that is the most important aspect of music for both Chris and Tony. We recently added the very talented Matthew Schieferstein on drums. This has allowed us, once again, to write, record and perform new music! The CuDa brothers have opened for Bran Auger, Stickmen, Brand X, Project Object, Allan Holdsworth, Adrian Belew, Scott Henderson/Jeff Berlin/Mike Clark, Ambrosia… CHRIS CUDA – Chris is a self-taught acoustic/electric/synth guitarist. Chris has recorded and/or performed with David Thomas (Rocket From The Tombs & Pere Ubu), Horns & Things, Sonny Geraci (The Outsiders), Len Berry, Tommy Roe, Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, Leslie Gore, Billy J. Krammer, The Shangri-La’s, Michael Cartellone (drummer for Tommy Shaw, Damn Yankees & Lynyrd Skynyrd), Michael Gibbs (session w/orchestrator for Mahavishnu, Jaco, and Peter Gabriel), The Kinsman Dazz Band, and CuDa & CuDa Trio, and ProgNation. Some of Chris' influences include Julian Bream, Bill DeArango, John Coltrane, Miles, James Brown, Yes, John McLaughlin, and 20th century composers. TONY CUDA – Tony Cuda is a schooled musician, composer and bass player. After spending three years at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Tony hit the road with an original fusion band in the early 1980’s. After playing the New England scene for about 5 years, Tony returned to Cleveland to rejoin his brother Chris, eventually co-founding their current group, CuDa, Schief & CuDa. Tony plays a 1963 fretless Fender Jazz and a fretted Spector bass guitar. His main influences are Weather Report, Yes, King Crimson and Miles Davis. Matthew Schieferstein is a drummer with over 25 years of playing experience. Having earned a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University, he has played in various musical settings from small group jazz and big band to country and heavy metal. He has shared the stage with such legends as Blue Lou Marini (Blues Brothers, Frank Zappa, SNL Band), Matt and Gunnar Nelson, Howard Johnson (SNL Band, Jaco Pastorius, Charlie Haden), Gary Mule Deer, and many others. He has performed in groups that have opened for the likes of Ted Nugent, Molly Hatchet, and Frijid Pink to name a few. Matthew draws inspiration from any musician or group, regardless of genre, that plays with conviction, honesty, and a sense of purpose. Matthew plays Pearl Drums and Sabian Cymbals. tonycuda.com • Facebook Brand X CSC featuring the Cuda Brothers
