Gibson Smith, founder of Smith Capital Investors, will discuss the macroeconomic landscape, outlook for bonds and corporate credit spreads and the stock-bond relationship and correlation. About our Speaker Gibson Smith is Founder of Smith Capital Investors, Portfolio Manager, and Chief Investment Officer. Mr. Smith founded the firm with a desire to bring outstanding people together to build a business that focuses on relationships/people and investing. He built the firm on the belief that we are investors first and foremost and strive, always, to be the best. Gibson has 30 years of investment experience. He previously served as Chief Investment Officer, Fixed Income, at Janus Capital Management LLC, a position he had held from 2006 to 2016. In that capacity, Gibson was also a member of the Janus Executive Committee and Portfolio Manager of Janus Fixed Income strategies. Two of the funds he managed—The Janus Balanced Fund and the Janus Flexible Bond Fund—became some of the largest strategies at Janus before his departure. Gibson joined Janus in 2001 after spending the first 10 years of his career at Morgan Stanley in Manhattan and San Francisco. He is actively engaged with the University of Colorado (’91 Economics). He sits on the Leeds School of Business Alumni and Friends Board, and the University of Colorado Foundation Trustee Board. He previously served on the Board of Country Club of the Rockies (President) and the Board of Colorado Golf Club. Gibson has a passion for investment management, leadership, security analysis, economics, financial markets, and golf.
