Residential Construction and Remodeling GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports carpenter and other company associates with project coordination and tasks MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: *Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes: *Studies blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, for example lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated. *Selects specified type of lumber or other materials. Prepares layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers. *Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials, using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge. *Shapes materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes. *Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue. *Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter 's level. *Erects framework for structures and lays subflooring. Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work. *Covers subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and lays hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors by nailing floors to subfloor or cementing them to mastic or asphalt base. *Applies shock-absorbing, sound-deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls. *Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, for example locks, letter drops, and kick plates. *Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete. Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level. *Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project *Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements *Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities *Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations *Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met *Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies *Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities *Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed *Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports *Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES *Job site cleanup, material staging, Material collection, Construction debris disposal, demolition efforts QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: *Proven experience as construction project manager *In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles *Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards *Good knowledge of CoConstruct PM Program *Familiarity with construction/ project management software *Outstanding communication and negotiation skills *Excellent organizational and time-management skills *A team player with leadership abilities *BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field *PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage Experience: Use of tools (power and non), material identification, customer relations, communication skills KEY COMPETENCIES Ability to use Power tools, Safety awareness PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand for long periods of time, climb ladders, bending, stretching Job Type: Full-time Schedule: typically Mon-F 7am-4:30 but will vary 10 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Weekend availability Multiple locations Work Remotely: no
