Each bike tour occurs only on Saturdays and all start at 8 a.m. We try to keep the tours to 2 hours but may run a little over time. A $5 donation is encouraged, but not required. On Saturday, September 25th the last River District bike tour of the season will depart from the rear parking lot of City Hall, 425 E. State Street at 8 a.m. Gary Anderson will lead the tour that will be making stops at some of our historic architecturally significant structures.  The tour includes descriptions of the architectural features and styles of the buildings, who built them and their contributions to the community.  Buildings include the Shumway Market, Midway Theater, Faust Landmark, 7th Street Commercial Mortgage building, Swedish American  Hospital, Camelot Tower, the former site of OSF hospital, Lincoln Middle School, Churchill Park, Keith Creek and what is occurring with the planning and visioning of a Greenway along the creek, Railroad Avenue and the historic furniture factories that lined the street, and a cruise down the 7th Street Business District, now Midtown. On our way back to City Hall, we'll make a  stop at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and finish the tour going through Haight Village.  There is hill to climb at Swedish  American Hospital, but our stops will help mitigate the workout. The rest of the tour is fairly flat. We intend to finish the tour by 10 a.m.  The tour is 4.6 miles in length for those wondering. As is usual,  the accompanying map of our tour is subject to change and modification to keep everyone safe. Weather is always a factor, but the intent will be to have the tour unless there is an early threat of a thunderstorm.  We will provide an update on Facebook on  Friday before the tour of any changes.  RSVP on Facebook and make your reservations on Eventbrite today!
