This family event will empower your family with practical in-water skills and out of water education. The Fort Worth Drowning Prevention Coalition's mission is to prevent fatal and non-fatal drownings in Fort Worth, and beyond. Texas ranks second to Florida for US fatal drowningsTarrant County leads the state in pediatric drowningsDrowning is the leading cause of accidental death of children 1 to 5 yrs of age70% of African American children, 60% of Latino children and 40% of Caucasian children have low or no swimming abilityThis program is a water safety and drowning prevention class for ages 4 to 104 y.o.  If you already know how to swim this is not the class for you.  Our partners with the City of Fort Worth, YMCA and The Fort Worth Swim School offer excellent and affordable swim lessons.  Where: TCC South Campus- Indoor Pool When:  October 16, 2021 Time:  10:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm This program is designed for every member of the family to participate in all stations. There will be 6 total stations- 3 in the water, and 3 out of the water. Please register each member of your family (including adults) seperately. Curriculum Goals: Water Comfort - face & head in the waterFloating - demonstrated ability to float Navigation- navigating safetly out of the poolProper usage of a Life JacketLearn hands only CPR and how to be emergency readyFAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? No. We invite any non-swimmer ages 4 to 103 y.o. to participate Do I pay for myself and my child to attend classes? Yes. For this event register each member of your family seperately, as all family members will participate in every station. What can/can't I bring to the event? Bring a swimsuit and towel for each participant. You will also want a dry change of clothes.  Swim caps and goggles can also be helpful.
