Description

A half day seminar designed to empower BIPOC women to serve on City, nonprofit, and corporate boards and commissions. The seminar is co-hosted by the Cedar Rapids WIN NAACP and the African American Museum of Iowa. It features a keynote address by Abena Sankofa Imhotep of the Sankofa Literary Empowerment Group, remarks from Cedar Rapids Mayor Brad Hart, and Angelica Vannatta with the United Way East Central Iowa BOLD Program. The event is sponsored by Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust and is open to BIPOC women in the Corridor. Registration is required. Boxed lunch will be provided for registered attendees. The African American Museum of Iowa is a statewide museum dedicated to preserving, exhibiting, and teaching Iowa’s African American history. As Iowa’s leading educational resource on the topic, we educate more than 30,000 people each year through museum tours, traveling exhibits, research services, youth and adult education programs, and community and fundraising events.
