Description

Join us for the 65th annual NAME Alumni Dinner at SNAME! We look forward to seeing everyone in person again this year in Providence. The 65th Annual Reunion of the Alumni & Friends of the University of Michigan, Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering will take place on Friday evening, October 29, 2021, at the Omni Providence Hotel, 1 West Exchange St., Providence, Rhode Island. The evening will begin with cocktails (cash bar) at 4:45 p.m. in the South Country Room, followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. Back by popular demand will be our comfortable, informal format with the exception of the presentation of the Rosenblatt-Michigan Award to Ben Capuco. Making that presentation will be Dr. David Dowling, our Department Interim Chair, and he will also be giving us a brief update on the NAME Department activities. We also expect several other faculty as well as a large group of Quarterdeck members to be in attendance. We are anticipating an extra special evening with old and new Michigan friends and hope you can join us. The cost of the dinner is $75. Those attending only the cocktail reception need not make reservations. As usual, dinner reservations will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis. With all of the evening’s special activities, we do expect a sell out, so PLEASE RESERVE EARLY. Dress for the event is business casual. Your Interim Chair, the College of Engineering and the faculty of the Department extend a warm welcome to alumni, faculty, students and guests. We anticipate an excellent turnout and look forward to seeing you in Providence. We will be following the SNAME COVID protocols, which currently stand as follows: As part of SNAME's commitment to keep you safe during SMC and FAST in-person events, we are currently exploring a Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test within 72 Hours of Arrival requirement in addition to requiring masks and providing hand sanitizing stations and a layout that promotes social distancing. More information will be provided once these plans have been finalized. Stay tuned and check out our "Keeping You Safe" page for more information as available.
