PORT CHESTER, NY — A driver made a series of bad decisions that led to his arrest on Saturday night, police said.
Just before 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, an officer on patrol in a marked Port Chester police car was stopped at the traffic light at West Chester and N. Main Street when the car vehicle was hit by another vehicle. Investigators say the driver crossed over the double yellow line and hit the front and the driver's side of the police car.
The patrol officer was injured in the collision and was treated and later released from Greenwich Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
Cristian Yari Chillogalli was found to be intoxicated and was driving without a license, according to police. The 24-year-old White Plains resident was then arrested.
Chillogalli's blood alcohol content was 2 1/2 times the legal limit, PCPD said. He has a prior DWI conviction, so he was also charged with a felony charge of DWI, according to arresting officers.
"We wish the officer a speedy recovery and wish to remind everyone if you drink don't drive," Port Chester Police said in a statement announcing the arrest.
