NEW YORK CITY — New deals to deliver hydropower, wind and solar energy to New York City will be the equivalent of taking one mill cars off the road, Mayor Bill de Blasio said. De Blasio on Tuesday touted the deal struck by city officials, Gov. Kathy Hochul and others as a green energy infrastructure achievement. The two deals, if approved, will transmit renewable power from upstate New York and Canada, officials said. "By 2025 all New York City government will be power with 100 percent renewable electricity, all of it," de Blasio said. De Blasio stressed the city plans to end all its fossil fuel connections by 2030 and convert its gas-powered fleet of cars to electric by 2040. The announcements coincide with Climate Week. The energy deals are projected to bring 10,000 jobs statewide and $8.2 billion in economic development investments, according to Hochul's office.
