An undeniable and ferocious self-taught editor, producer and director, Joe Yung Spike, whose diverse talents has landed him on the minds of mega artists across the world was raised in the 3rd World projects of South Memphis, TN where he turned to video cameras as his escape from the streets. Spike’s sister and nephew were murdered in what remains a cold case. In less than two years following this tragic incident, he was shot in the head in a botched robbery and within weeks lost his mother to cancer. In a very short time period and at the tender age of 17, his family life turned upside down. Left to fend for himself, he made the decision to keep going and not give up. Not shy to mention that he traded in his bandanas, baggy pants and guns for a camera is the testimony he walks by to provide hope for the next generation of underprivileged and at-risk youths who seem to have lost hope in gaining success. Spike has built an empire worth over half a million dollars by making life changing decisions that would turn fruitful in less than two years. He boosted his music video career through an opportunity forged by national recording artist Gucci Mane and has never looked back. Spike originally relocated to Atlanta from Memphis with an idea of building the biggest rental studio from where the vision has evolved. Skee TV recently featured Spike on FUSE TV (http://youtu.be/_X16pcEm_60) for a 10,000 hours close-up interview on his life and work story. In 2014, he played a major role in over 5 music videos that received over 10 MTV Jams of the Week. In addition to this, Spike had over 15 Top Box videos on World Star Hip Hop and received features in publications such XXL, Source Magazine and Allhiphop.com for his rapid rise to the music video forefront. His passion for the music video industry combined with his undeniable ability to think on his feet to create sophisticated visual narratives, creativity and his experience has led him to becoming one of the most sought after music video directors for top artists. His award-winning music video credits for mega artists include Akon, Future, T.I.,Yo Gotti, B.o.B, Birdman and DJ Khaled to name a few. Spike embraces his roots and turns his head when given an excuse for not achieving dreams, as he believes all things are possible through hustle, faith, dedication and hard word. Aside from being behind a video camera, Spike’s commitment to community enrichment and youth charitable organizations is never ending. He recently launched the School of Shoots providing an opportunity and platform for the less fortunate to learn the trade of music video and film production through the establishment of the School of Shoots, a sub-entity of the production company ATL House of Shoots where he is the sole owner. He is the first ever music video director to launch the first ever national music video tour where he has set his goals at filming 200 music videos in a year’s time. During this tour, Spike will provide an opportunity for independent artists to work with a renowned Producer and Director that they would not otherwise have direct access at affordable costs as well as provide a platform for the disenfranchised to learn hands-on behind the camera operations, a trade that took him over a decade to self-teach and master.
