Description
SHOREWOOD, WI — Fire hydrants across Shorewood will be flushed starting Monday. Parts of the Village could experience some minor discoloring of water.
The purpose of the annual hydrant flushing is to clear out hydrant mains of any sitting water. Water mains can be affected by the flushing as rust and calcium dislodge from pipes, according to a news release from the Village.
The discolored water does not pose any health threats but can stain clothing, according to the news release.
"Please refrain from washing clothing between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. during the week hydrants in your area are scheduled for flushing," the news release said.
The schedule: South of Capitol Drive: Sept. 20-24
Northeast of Capitol and Oakland: Sept. 27-Oct. 1
Northwest of Capitol and Oakland: Oct. 4-8
A map of the flushing schedule is available here.
