GLEN HEAD, NY — A public school in Glen Head earned the honor of being named a National Blue Ribbon school for 2021, the U.S. Department of Education announced Tuesday. Glen Head's North Shore High School was among 325 schools nationwide and 19 in New York State to earn the title. According to the department, being named a Blue Ribbon school "affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content." Each school that earns the award is either among the highest performing schools in a state or among the highest performing in closing the achievement gap. "This year's cohort of honorees demonstrates what is possible when committed educators and school leaders create vibrant, welcoming, and affirming school cultures where rich teaching and learning can flourish," Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said. "Blue Ribbon Schools have so much to offer and can serve as a model for other schools and communities so that we can truly build back better."
