Brookhaven at Lexington, a prestigious, private retirement community in Lexington MA is currently seeking a Cook. This is a full time 40 hour per week position and the ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in high end restaurants, hotels and or private clubs. The emphasis at Brookhaven at Lexington is on scratch cooking using only the highest quality and freshest ingredients. We offer an excellent work life balance with flexible scheduling and no late nights (weekend shifts are required). There are also opportunities for $2,000.00 scholarships and some tuition reimbursement. Sign on bonus available to Full-Time Cook - $2,000 total! $1000 paid after 3 months, additional $1000 paid after 6 months Responsibilities: Uphold high quality menu options that meet and exceed resident expectations.Maintain commitment to excellence in carrying out production responsibilities.Report to work on time in uniform and ready to start.Prepare and oversee production of all food for assigned meal period.Prep tray line for Breakfast, assemble salads for Lunch and Dinner, assemble hot and cold hors oeuvres, assemble catering platters and assist in the cooking and serving of hot and cold food at dinner.Accomplish necessary planning and preparation for next day’s production.Maintain proper standards for taste, temperature and appearance.Practice hygienic food handling, preparation and serving techniques.Use accepted closing procedures, finish shift, accomplishing proper storage and clean-up.Communicate with Manager on Duty to assure compliance with all procedures.Other related duties as assigned by Manager.Maintain a clean and sanitary work area at all times using proper food handling and storage procedures.Fill out food worksheets for portions of salad station products produced.
