Susquehanna River Running Festival To Close Roads This Weekend

A race this weekend will result in some road closures around Harford and Cecil counties. The Susquehanna River Running Festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 25. About 700 people are expected to participate, city officials reported at Monday's Havre de Grace City Council meeting. A 5K, 10K and half-marathon (13.1 miles) are planned, with Millard E. Tydings Park a part of all three courses. The 5K will take runners through downtown Havre de Grace, while the 10K and half-marathon will have athletes kicking their heels up across the Hatem Bridge. These roads may be closed for the Susquehanna River Running Festival from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 25, according to the Perryville Police Department: Hatem BridgeAiken AvenueBroad Street Street parking along Broad Street will be prohibited, and those parked on the street may be towed on Saturday, Sept. 25. "Please use caution, follow directions from officers/deputies directing traffic and remain vigilant for runners," police said. Organizers suggest the following places to watch: Millard E. Tydings Park, 908 S. Washington St., Havre de GraceAmerican Legion, St. John St., Havre de GracePerryville Middle School, 850 Aiken Ave., PerryvillePerry Point VA Medical Center, 59 Ave. D., Perryville Shuttles will run from the Hollywood Casino (1201 Chesapeake Overlook Parkway, Perryville) and Ripken Stadium (873 Long Drive, Aberdeen) to Tydings Park.
