CU Boulder's Museum Of Natural History Will Reopen On Monday

BOULDER, CO — After an 18-month closure initially brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the University of Colorado Boulder's Museum of Natural History will reopen on Monday, Sept. 27 with updated and upgraded galleries. The museum shut its doors for what officials expected to be a one-month closure on March 14, 2020. Throughout the closure, museum staff has been "updating and upgrading each gallery," according to CU Boulder Today. Now, each gallery boasts upgrades, the museum is offering several new exhibits, and its dedicated family space – previously relegated to one corner – has been expanded, with children's activities now available in each gallery, CU Boulder Today said. Though the museum built a virtual Museum From Home page for the public to access during its closure, Museum Director Patrick Kociolek said "nothing can replace the value of direct observation and learning" that the galleries offer in-person. "The CU Museum is a rich resource for learning, and we are thrilled to be making it available again to students, individuals and families in our community," Kociolek said. The museum will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to its website.
