JERSEY CITY, NJ — Six members of a Jersey City gang were charged in the August 2020 stabbing of a man on a busy Jersey City street, according to the Department of Justice. They each are charged by complaint with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering activity.
Those charged are listed below:
Sheldon Mays, aka "Thottie," 21, Jermaine Jennings, aka "Maine,""Drill," 20Divine Abraham, aka "Dee," 21 Jamil Bowens, 20Jaylen Boone, 21Yahsier Brown, 19According to the Department of Justice, Mays, Jennings, Abraham, Bowens, Boone and Brown are members of a street gang known around the Curries Woods Housing Complex in Jersey City. In retaliation for a prior assault of Mays by the victim and other members of a rival gang, and as part of an ongoing feud amongst the two gangs, the six sought out the victim, assaulted him, and stabbed him in broad daylight on a busy street in Jersey City. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries.
The count of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering activity is punishable by a maximum of 20 years in prison.
