WOONSOCKET, RI —Rhode Island-based pharmacy giant CVS is launching a nation-wide recruiting effort this week. The company is looking to hire 25,000 positions across the country, including more than 200 in the Ocean State.
CVS will hold a one-day, national recruiting day on Friday. The company will be hiring for both new and existing retail and clinical positions. Most of the available positions are for full-time, part-time or temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians and nurses.
"These new and existing positions will help the company continue to respond to the needs of communities across the country during the fall and winter months when the incidence of flu is expected to increase and as COVID-19 vaccination and testing remain in high demand," the company said in a statement.
Neela Montgomery, the president of CVS Pharmacy, said that additional employees are needed every flu season.
"This year we're looking for even more," Montgomery said. "With the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities, we're estimating a much greater need for pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians, nurses, and retail store associates. These jobs offer a rewarding opportunity to really make an impact on public health in our country."
Interested applicants can text "CVS" to 25000 or visit the company's career website. The entire hiring process will be virtual, meaning there won't be any on-site interviews or applications, the company said.
"By leveraging CVS Health's innovation and technology, we're making it easier for qualified andcaring candidates to join our team and contribute to the company's ongoing efforts to helpsolve the country's health care challenges," said Jeffrey Lackey, the company's vice president of talent acquisition.
