NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown's municipal council will consider voting on adding flexibility to the zoning code Tuesday evening, potentially smoothing the approval process to future developments in the area. Specifically, proposed Ordinance 21-10 would amend certain aspects of the code to allow more types of residential development within the municipality's currently designated Multi-Family Residential District. The change has been requested by a developer who wants to build a major new residential development in town. The proposal, first introduced in May, would bring a four story apartment building with 192 units, a set of 89 townhouses, and a set of multiplexes with 90 units. All told, the proposal calls for 568 new parking spaces, as well. The zoning issue is one of several that stands before the council for their work session on Tuesday evening. See the full agenda for Tuesday night's meeting online here. The meeting will be held at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The public is invited.
