ELMHURST, IL – A worker punched his boss after the boss yelled at him about incomplete work earlier this month, then left before officers arrived, police said.
About 5 p.m. Sept. 2, police got a call about a fight involving an unconscious victim at McMaster-Carr Supply Co., 600 N. County Line Road, police said. Patch obtained the full report through a public records request.
McMaster-Carr said the workers were employed by another company for a construction project at the plant.
Police saw that the foreman had a small amount of blood under his lip and a small cut on his left hand, the report said. The foreman said one of his employees hit him, but that he did not want police assistance. He said he never lost consciousness, but was stunned the worker struck him, police said.
The 58-year-old foreman said the attack happened after he yelled at the employee for incomplete work. He said he had no contact or vehicle information for the employee and that he did not want to press charges, police said. He said the employee had worked for him for years, adding that the man would no longer be employed, police said.
The foreman's other employees witnessed the incident. One said the suspect struck the foreman with his hard hat on the side of the head, police said. Then the suspect got down from his piece of equipment and punched the foreman before leaving, according to the police report.
Police were unable to contact the suspect, but found the state had revoked his firearm owner's identification card, according to the report.
