CLEVELAND — University Hospitals implemented a new visitation policy for patients on Tuesday. Most patients are now allowed only one visitor per day. Previously, patients were allowed to have one visitor at a time, but there was no cap on how many visitors could come through in a single day. "This is a challenging time and it can be hard not to have visitors. If you are a patient, we suggest you bring a smartphone or laptop to help communicate with the important people in your life. If you do not have access to a smartphone or laptop, tell us so we can try to help," the hospital system said on its website. Live in Cleveland? Pediatric patients can have both parents or guardians present. Patients in labor can have two visitors, though they must stay in the hospital throughout the process. Exceptions to the visitation policy will be made for clergy and patients with special needs, and all exceptions will be decided on a case-by-case basis. More details on the visitation policies can be found on the University Hospitals website.
