ATLANTA — Three Atlanta men were killed last week when a helicopter he was in crashed in central Georgia.
Buckhead landscape architect Carson McElheney, 40, pilot Alister Pereira, 42, and 46-year-old pilot Charles Ogilvie were flying north from Thomasville when the helicopter went down Thursday near the Oconee National Forest in Jasper County, 11 Alive News is reporting.
Rescue teams were able to use cell phone signals and an emergency transmitter to track the downed helicopter, although Jasper County Sheriff Donnie Pope told reporters that rain and mud made the search difficult.
"The terrain was very difficult," Pope said.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
