Description
This post is for a Captive Bred(CB) Juvenile Chinese Water Dragon who needs to be re-homed. I am pretty sure that it is a male since recently his throat-dewlap turned blue which is indicative of a male since female Chinese Water Dragons usually keep a white throat-dewlap from their adolescence. He is very friendly with me(he likes to climb on my shoulder and arms, has never bitten or tail-whipped me). This lizard is full of personality and is quite inquisitive in its behavior. Currently this Chinese Water Dragon is approximately 16in long from snout to tail end. Whoever is looking to give him a home must make sure they know how to take care of this type of lizard. You cannot keep Chinese Water Dragons in commercial aquariums or terrariums generally since they require custom built enclosures or modified grow tents due to them being unable to sense glass and will rub their noses into transparent walls like glass until their faces are just raw flesh(I have insured that this lizard has not rubbed his snout raw). I have been keeping him for the past few months inside a VIVOSUN 24in x 24in x 48in grow tent with basking & UVB bulbs and lots of wood, branches, a water bin for swimming, and a large live plant. He has been feeding on mealworms and occasional vegetables that are suitable for this type of lizard. This lizard will likely be 3ft long at maturity and will need a minimum enclosure size of 3ft x 3ft x 6ft, this enclosure can be custom-made or a grow tent of said proper size. Just because their name is Chinese 'Water' Dragon does not mean that they are completely aquatic, they are actually mostly arboreal but will benefit from an appropriate-size pool inside their enclosure to swim in. This lizard requires a re-homing fee of $50 in order to insure I know he is going to a good home who knows how to take care of this specialized species.
