Donald Trump never won the popular vote. This means the majority of voters in America voted against him. Trump was elected by luck known as the electoral college. Now that we as a nation have technology to count every single vote safely and swiftly, we should do away with the electoral college and count every vote nationwide. Red States and Blue states would no longer matter. Every vote would count equally. Conservatives in CA for example,e would no longer have their votes nullified by the democrat majority. It is an absolute waste off time for republicans to even vote in CA. Doping away with the electoral college would change that. All votes for each candidate would matter regardless of the state or district. This counting every vote and removing the electoral college would mean we have a TRUE democracy. Majority wins each and every time. There is no chance we will ever be able to revamp our election process near an election year. The time to do it is between elections. I realize this type of change will NEVER occur because we would be removing power from the politicians. Politicians from both sides will never allow this to happen. But it's worth daydreaming about.
