The Assistant Chief of Engineer's primary responsibility will be to support the Director of Engineering in the day to day responsibilities of the Engineering Department. This person will be responsible for maintaining the entire hotel and restaurant facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and related equipment. He/She will maintain these systems by completing preventative maintenance schedules; restoring, repairing, rebuilding or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts. As well as ensure the upkeep of guest areas to maintain an attractive hotel and restaurant. Essential Duties (not limited to): Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structure(s) of the hotel and restaurant, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment. Manage, assist and verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces, and grounds. Manage, assist and verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas. Must be able to be "hands on" during projects. Must be able to step in and perform subordinate's duties if needed. Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining department staff and all other staff under direction of the Engineering Department, such as painters, engineers, and groundskeepers. Will be in charge of the weekly work schedule. Make purchases on a regular basis. Adhere to all required purchasing policies and controls. Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA. Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel. Inform other management staff on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost effective proposals for maintaining these systems. Must be able to input information into a computer and generate reports. Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office. Required Experience: Must have a minimum of 2 years in building maintenance including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and landscaping. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (eight hours) Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or 50 lbs frequently and/or 20 lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push or pull objects. Ability to work in stressful situations Other: Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees will be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel and restaurant. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. This position may require being on call for various reasons. This is a full-time position. This position requires working on Holidays and Weekends. Pay and Benefits: This is a full time, salary position based on experience.
