Janitor We are currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Janitor for our 140-unit multifamily apartment complex in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as the need arises. Additionally, the individual we are looking to hire must have a good work ethic and able to perform work that meets our high standards of excellence with minimal supervision. This a full-time position. The Janitor works a 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The candidate must be able to work these days and assigned hours. Dependability and attendance are essential job requirements. This position requires specific levels of knowledge and skills. The Janitor assists and supports the Maintenance Staff and must have the knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks in a timely manner. This includes, but not limited to the following essential responsibilities: • Gathering and emptying trash; • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, and polishing floors; • Wiping mirrors and windows; • Clearing debris from grounds; • Cleaning entrances; • Removing snow from sidewalks and entrances; and • Assisting the Maintenance Staff in unit turnover, including cleaning and removing trash from vacant apartments. Additional requirements. In addition, the Janitor must also meet the following requirements: • At least 2 years' experience as an apartment maintenance superintendent -or- at least 2 years' experience in a similar field that requires the same level of knowledge and skills; • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances; • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components; • Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices; • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted; • Able to kneel and crouch and maneuver in small spaces; • Agree to undergo a background check, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations; and • Authorized to work in the United States.
