Azumo is seeking an Assembly Technician to pursue a position in a key special projects group of a fast-paced display and LED technology company in our Chicago location. In this role, you will work closely with a small team to build prototypes for external parties and also create test samples for internal analysis and development. Your role will be as an artist who takes concepts through the creation process with a high level of precision and attention to detail. The ability to quickly learn from tasks and apply learnings to new and challenging future tasks is a must. Creativity and problem solving abilities are also a must. Qualified candidates will have experience in one of the following, or an activity requiring a similar level of precision and attention to detail: small scale electronics assembly/rework, watchmaking, semiconductor fabrication, LED wire-bonding, manual fiber optic coupling, highly realistic drawing or painting, precision machining, intricate jewelry making, realistic model making, precision metrology, and/or art restoration. Ability to read and understand a drawing or the ability to pick up this skill quickly is also very helpful. Candidates must be able to apply maximum focus for long periods of time without interruption and be able to direct their focus in an efficient and self-planned manner. Candidates must also be highly skilled craftsmen with superb fine motor skills and pride in their handwork. Work will generally be done in a clean environment (laminar flow hood) where even a single spec of dust will ruin the work product. Responsibilities: •Creating one-off or small quantity assemblies made from optical-quality, flat films and adhesives. •Precision cutting of above adhesives by hand or via machine. •Aligning and laminating above films and adhesives by hand or via machine. •Assembly of LED modules via soldering and gluing. •Alignment of LED modules to assemblies with precision. Fitting, modifying, and crafting components for optimal performance. •Daily creative problem solving and innovation. •Work with a high level of detail and accuracy and maintain a clean and organized work area. Requirements: •Background or experience in a field or fields utilizing the skills required to reliably and consistently carry out the above responsibilities. •Proficiency with hand tools and precision instruments. •Ability to resourcefully use available tools for unintended purposes and to envision new uses for commonly available tools which can be applied to a task (innovation). •Simultaneous attention to detail on a very small scale and on a large scale. •Maintenance of focus under stress for long periods, rapidly accomplishing precision tasks without rushing.
