Join Althea Center for Engaged Spirituality on Sunday, Sept 26th at 10:30 am for our Sunday Gathering: "Autumn Equinox: What Are We Harvesting?" with Guest Speaker, Katherine Newell (Candidate for Althea Center Spiritual Director) When: Sunday, Sept. 26th 10:30 - 11:45 am MT *Doors will open at 10:00 am & RSVP is appreciated, but not required. Once a year we get a sacred opportunity to reflect on the seeds we planted back in the darkness of winter. Did they bloom into the blessings we prayed for or fizzle out in the summer heat? Join Spiritual Director candidate, Katherine Newell, MDiv for an interactive exploration and ritual honoring the changing of seasons. What is coming to fruition in your life? What will the next season bring for the Althea community? And what is the most important skill in cultivating abundance? All are welcome -- see you on Sunday for a celebratory harvest! Guest Speaker & Spiritual Director Candidate: Katherine Newell, MDiv Katherine Newell is an interspiritual minister and transformation specialist dedicated to serving human beings seeking awakening and alignment. As CEO and Founder of The Faith Space, she provides personal and organizational development for leaders in ministerial, tech, business, public service, education, and nonprofit sectors. With a Masters in Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University, her background is steeped in holistic healing, visioning, rituals, conflict management, and facilitation. She has previously served as a hospital trauma chaplain, legislative chief of staff, and community collaborator. Katherine currently works with revolutionary leaders to foster empathy-building, social justice, and holistic integration of change. Her mission and methods cultivate a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable world. Featured Musician: Sidney Shaw, Vocalist Sidney Shaw is a reiki practitioner, tarot card reader and High Priestess in training. Sidney believes in using her spiritual gifts to serve others on their individual spiritual journey. Sidney has grown up being a part of choirs and learning to use music as a spiritual practice. As the daughter of a musician, the power of song holds great reverence in her life. Byron Shaw: Vocalist Byron Shaw has been the lead singer and founding father of Denver's premier Ska and Reggae Band, Judge Roughneck for 25 years. He personally owns the record for most plays at Red Rocks by a local artist, and has written and released several full length albums of original music. Byron also hosts a music wellness program for people experiencing homelessness. He teaches rhythmic drumming to clients to release negative energy, increase focus, and to just relax and have fun! Additional: Childcare is not provided. Learn more about the Althea Center, our Sunday Gatherings, and upcoming classes: altheacenter.org Based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Althea Center will require masks to be worn at all times while indoors beginning Sunday, August 1st. Sunday lunches have been postponed until further notice. Coffee and Tea may be enjoyed outdoors after service. While each Althean may have opinions about the current state of the pandemic, let us do our very best to keep our thoughts, feelings, and prayers focused positively and with love and compassion for each other, the ill and their families, and those working tirelessly day after day to care for people who are sick. The board made these decisions with a safety of everyone's Health utmost in our minds, and we will continue to modify our policies based on regional and national recommendations.
