Description
Burlington 3's is 3 vs.3 lacrosse for girls 8-14 years old for four Saturdays in October. Burlington 3's is 3 vs.3 lacrosse for girls ages 8-14 and is open to girls from anywhere in Vermont/New York. Games are Saturday October 9, 16, 13, 30 at UVM's Centennial Field. What Is 3 vs. 3 Lacrosse?3 vs. 3 lacrosse is fun and fast. It’s played on small fields (35 yards x 25 yards), no goalies, and no off-sides (similar to basketball.) Games last 20 minutes. Each team will play 3 games every Saturday. Players will need a stick, goggles, and a mouthguard. Rules are the same as regular field lacrosse with an emphasis on player safety (no checking above the shoulders, no shooting "through" the defense.) Teams will play in appropriate age divisions. Here’s What You Need to Do to PlayContact friends and potential teammates (from your town or another town) and create a team. We urge every team to have 4-6 players for more substitutions.Come up with your team name and decide what matching “uniforms’ you will wear. Uniforms don’t need numbers and don’t even have to be jerseys. Create something fun that you and your teammates can all wear that matches (more or less.) The more creative the better.Register. Each player must register individually. When you will out the form, enter the same team name as your teammates so that we know who is playing together. If you don’t have a team - no problem - sign up as a Free Agent and we will put you on a team when you arrive. Players and parents, please be advised that in order to provide the best experience for everyone, we will be adding free agents to teams as needed. Location, Dates, and TimesWe will play on the soccer complex at Centennial Field, part of the University of Vermont, located at 287 Colchester Avenue, Burlington. Dates are October 9, 16, 23, and 30. We will begin at 3:00pm and end at 4:35pm. ParkingCentennial Field has limited parking. Players should be dropped off. If parents and guardians want to stay and watch, please find parking on the street on Colchester Avenue. CostCost for each individual for the 4-week session is $48. QuestionsIf you have any questions, you can contact Bill Carter at Burlington Youth Lacrosse at [email protected] (not .com) Game RulesEach game will have a referee, but the game should be as self-regulating as possible (the players run things!)Each team can use the entire field and there are no offsides.“Hot Rule” - a goal can only be scored in a team’s designated goal after at least 2 passes on that side of the field (a shot that is made into the goal by a “Not-Hot” team is not a score and will result in a change of possession.)If the ball goes out of bounds, either from a shot or pass, the ball is awarded to the opposite team of who last touched the ball. There are no creases. There is no goalie and it is illegal to "guard" the goal.Players are responsible for the safety of their opponents. No checking above the shoulders or from behind; no shooting "through a defender."
