Description

How Do We Help Haiti Long Term? A Townhall Discussion Haiti is a beautiful country with an impressive history, strong people, and a unique culture. However, despite Haiti's great beauty and culture, it also has a long history of political oppression and turmoil, foreign intervention, extreme poverty, and the inability to fully respond and aid its residents from natural disasters. The issues plaguing Haiti are multi-faceted and complex. We know we can't fix all of Haiti's issues, but as members of the Haitian diaspora, we can still contribute to the betterment of the country. So far, 2021 has been a challenging year for Haiti, including; the assassination of the late president Jovenel Moise in July, then the earthquake and hurricane that hit southwest Haiti in early August, which caused damage, devastation, and destruction. It's more apparent now than ever that it's time for our community to do more to support our country. Therefore, The Haitian community in North Carolina is coming together for a town hall discussion to determine how we can establish long-term support for Haiti. This event is free with one or more donation items for our 2021 Relief Effort. A list of acceptable donation items is listed in the image below. Information to Note:Your safety is our highest priority! So unless you're actively eating or drinking, every attendee is expected to wear a mask throughout the entire duration of the event.
